The production design consists of three main props.
1) Thing 1, the first object they find in the garden which eventually attaches itself to Sebastian's head. This prop has three parts: the shell, the lid and the gold-throat in the cavity.
2) Thing 2, the second object which attaches itself to Eva's foot. This prop has two parts: the shell and the golden orifice.
3) Thing 3, comes in two identical copies, and is the part that attaches itself to Eva's under-arm and to Sebastians upper arm.
4) Optional: Body Suit, which is the miniature/collection of props that also attach to Sebastians body.
The shell has a white, metal finish, like a refrigerator. The lid has a more matt, plastic surface.
The gold inside the prop could be of a soft and stretchable material, like latex, so that it could be fitted around Sebastians head. Alternatively, we make two separate molds for the golden part. Then one will be sculpted to fit Sebastians head perfectly. If we have a soft part some of the movement could be done live as opposed to using CGI.

Again the shell has a white, metal finish and the gold is a soft and stretchable material, like latex, so that it could be fitted around Eva's foot.

Notes
Again the shell has a white, metal finish. The inside is probably not visible on this prop in the film. q
